The annual “Lighting of the Tree of Remembrance” prayer ceremony presided by Archbishop of Louisville, Joseph E. Kurtz, takes place on the Friday of the following week after Thanksgiving. Our wish is to remember, honor, and celebrate the life of your loved one by inviting you to place an “in memory of” ornament on the tree of remembrance located in Calvary Cemetery. We extend this opportunity to everyone who mourns the loss of a family member or friend, regardless of when or where the person was buried.

You can bring your own ornaments or request a personalized complimentary ornament at the cemetery. Light refreshments will be served.

Ornaments can be placed on our Remembrance Tree beginning December 1st and will remain on the tree until January 6th. If you wish to keep your ornament, please collect it from the tree no later than January 6th. After this date, all ornaments will be removed from the tree and discarded.

Please take into consideration that the ornaments will be on public display and exposed to inclement weather. Therefore, the Catholic Cemeteries will not be held responsible for lost, broken or stolen ornaments.
